2023 Toyota Corolla Arrives With Enhancements
The best-selling vehicle in the world is back for 2023 with some changes. New for this model year, the 2023 Toyota Corolla will expand its hybrid lineup, as well as swab some of its gas engine models for a higher-performing engine.Â
Last year was a memorable one for the Corolla family, with the debut of the all-new 2022 Corolla Cross. This major celebration also coincided with the record milestone of 50 million units sold, which solidified the Corolla’s position as the best-selling car of all time.Â
Keeping the momentum from these events, Toyota has announced a wide range of enhancements to the 12th generation Corolla.Â
2023 Toyota Corolla OverviewÂ
The biggest change to arrive with the freshly minted Corolla is the expansion of the hybrid lineup. Following suit with other Toyota nameplates, the 2023 Corolla Hybrid now offers the option of all-wheel drive. The Corolla Hybrid LE FWD will also gain four new siblings: the LE AWD grade, SE, and SE AWD grade.
But that’s not all. To top it off, the Corolla Hybrids will also offer enhanced brake control, while the sporty SE trim inherits the Electronic Power Steering from the Corolla Apex. These changes make the 2023 Corolla Hybrid the only compact hybrid passenger car available with AWD, once again showing Toyota’s commitment to providing mobility solutions for drivers seeking the best of both worlds: added traction and better gas mileage.
The gas side of the family comes with major improvements as well. To start, the LE, which is the sedan’s most popular grade, now has a 169-horsepower 2.0-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine. This higher-performing engine will replace the 139-horsepower 1.8-liter engine that it was originally equipped with. However, it’s not just more dynamic – it’s also more efficient, too, improving on previous engine fuel ratings by nearly 2 MPG.Â
The cherry on top: All 2023 Toyota Corolla models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and the next-generation Toyota Audio Multimedia system.Â
Exterior
New for this year are some minor design enhancements. For example, all grades will receive a new front fascia styling as well as LED daytime driving lights. On the SE, XSE, and XLE, there will be redesigned LED headlights. Other stylist updates include a rear bumper update for the LE and an all-new rear sports diffuser for the SE and XSE trims. Finishing off the exterior updates includes new 18-inch Gloss Graphite-colored alloy wheels. These wheels will also be available for the Corolla Hatchbacks.Â
It wouldn’t be a Toyota update without some new paint colors. New for this year are Underground and Midnight Black Metallic, which replaces Black Sand Pearl. The Hatchback also gains some color changes with the new Inferno and Blue Crush Metallic.Â
Drivers can also choose between the following paint colors: White, Classic Silver Metallic, Celestite, Blueprint, Wind Chill Pearl, and Ruby Flare Pearly. The Hatchback offers similar choices, as well as extra-cost duo-color options.Â
Cabin + Safety
Practical inside and out, the Corolla is packed with safety and tech features designed to give you peace of mind. All grades come standard with Toyota Safety Sense, as well as Toyota’s Audio Multimedia system. Most grades feature a 4.2-inch MID, while the XSE and XLE upgrade to a 7-inch display.Â
Built for comfort, the Corolla’s cabin reduces road noise thanks to its widespread sound-absorbing materials. To further enhance the sanctuary feel, ambient lighting is available on most trims. Other available features include wireless charging and heated front seating. Seating materials for the 2023 Corolla include standard cloth or in higher grades, SofTrex trim.
2023 Toyota Corolla TrimsÂ
The iconic Toyota Corolla offers 16 grades for drivers to choose from, making it one of the most practical vehicles on the market. Across the trims, there are some notable differences:
2023 Corolla
The Corolla is offered in eight trim levels, including L, LE, SE, SE Apex, SE Nightshade, XLE, XSE, and XSE Apex. Over its 55 years on the road, the Corolla has become synonymous with being reliable and budget-friendly. For these reasons, it has grown to be the best-selling car of all time. For its 2023 model, the Corolla comes standard with a 2.0L engine with increased horsepower and torque.Â
2023 Corolla Hybrid
The 2023 model year introduces 4 new hybrid grades. Drivers now have the option of five stylish trim levels, including LE FWD, LE AWD, SE FWD, SE AWD, and XLE.Â
2023 Corolla Hatchback
Everything you can expect from a Corolla, but in a sporty hatchback silhouette. The Corolla Hatchback is offered in three trims: SE, SE Nightshade, and XSE.
