2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

The best-selling car of all time welcomes a new family member with the introduction of the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. Based on the iconic Corolla sedan, the Corolla Cross offers drivers the functionality, spaciousness, and utility of a larger vehicle at a value price.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is available now at United Toyota Imperial in three different grades: L, LE, and XLE. Built to accommodate all of life’s adventures, the Corolla Cross is also offered in front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Toyota Corolla Cross Overview

Last year, the Corolla hit a major milestone of a record-setting 50 million Corollas sold. Since its debut in 1966, the nameplate has built a legacy for being fuel-efficient, safe, dependable, and budget-friendly. With these key elements in mind, Toyota designed a vehicle that could offer all of that plus more. The 2022 Corolla Cross builds upon the nameplates foundation by offering thoughtful utility functions designed with driver’s needs in mind. For example, the Corolla Cross has a max towing capacity of 1,500 lbs – enough to pull a trailer with a jet ski for a day of fun at the lake.

Under the hood, the Corolla Cross features a standard 169-horsepower 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine and continuously variable automatic transmission. Together, they offer an impressive 31 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. If that’s not enough, a hybrid powertrain will join the lineup in 2023.

Corolla Cross XLE Exterior

Exterior

True to Toyota form, the Corolla Cross is modern, stylish, and high-quality. Sized up to the Corolla Hatchback, the Corolla Cross offers 8.6 cubic feet more space. Compared to other models on Toyota’s lineup, it fits between the smaller C-HR and larger RAV4. This puts it parallel to competitors like the Kia Seltos and Nissan Rogue Sport.

Key design features on the Corolla Cross include black body accents, 17-inch steel wheels (18-inch alloy on XLE), and an available moonroof. Along with its sleek looks, drivers will also appreciate the higher line-of-sight thanks to the TNGA-C platform.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is available in 7 different exterior color options including: Celestite, Sonic Silver, Jet Black, Barcelona Red Metallic, Cypress, Blue Crush Metallic, and Wind Chill Pearl.

Corolla Cross Interior

Interior

Crossovers don’t have to feel small. That’s why Toyota designed the Corolla Cross to have enough space for wherever life takes you. In the back, storage space is maximized thanks to 60/40-split fold rear seating. With the seats up, drivers have 26.5 cubic feet of space and around 66 cubic feet with them folded down. Whether you need space for 5 passengers or a sizeable Costco run, the Corolla Cross can handle it.

Along with its impressive room, the compact SUV includes other thoughtful cabin features. For example, all grades have standard heating and air conditioning vents for rear passengers, as well as either single- or dual-zone automatic climate control.

On the XLE, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with heated front seats comes standard. The XLE also offers different interior color options not included on the L or LE.

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Technology Safety

Technology and Safety

The Corolla Cross is equipped with the latest and greatest technology features. On the base model, drivers connect with a 7-inch touchscreen display, while the LE and XLE upgrade to an 8-inch display. Through this system, drivers can experience a range of in-car entertainment functions, including standard compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include wireless smartphone charging (standard on LE and XLE), rear-seat USB ports, and Amazon Alexa connectivity.

When it comes to safety, Toyota takes the lead. All grades of the Corolla Cross come standard with both the Toyota Safety Sense, as well as Toyota’s signature STAR Safety System. This award-winning suite of technology includes features such as Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Toyota Corolla Cross vs. Toyota Corolla Hatchback

While both are powered by the same Dynamic Force Engine, the 2022 Corolla Cross takes performance a step further. Unlike the Corolla Hatchback, the 2022 Corolla Cross offers Dynamic Torque Control AWD, making it a great fit for adventurous drivers. Compared to the Hatchback, the Corolla Cross also offers a roomy 8.6 cubic feet more of space.
